Distributed Architecture Technology
Kn-Net™
is based on two core components: A Virtual
Community Collaboration Space, where a
community members can organize their common yet distributed repository of
knowledge and engage in online collaborative activities such as
collaborative review of documents, FAQs, online discussion forums, and
organization of community events. Emphasis has been put on the distribution
of content databases (peer-to-peer philosophy) and powerful categorization
and search functions that go far beyond the traditional folder-type
structure. An Inter-Community
Hub, where members can store their profile of
expertise profile, as required by the Communities they belong to, and serch
for other members based on these same profiles of expertise ("I am
looking for an automation engineer,
who can program
in Step7, who
knows packaging machines,
and lives close to Sidney"...).
This search engine is based on CBR technology, which compares profiles and
always delivers an answer to a request. This hub can be compared to Napster,
applied to expertise profiles The following diagram outlines the present architecture of Kn-Net™
